Unit operates as intended on most days. Operates poorly in mild conditions ~60's and ~70's. Flaws in vibration isolation of the compressor causes the unit to rattle quite loudly. App functionality is alright, Could use additional features like linking 2 accounts. Remote is serviceable but nothing special. No backlight or state information on remote. Yet to find a way to stop it from beeping at each settings change, would not recommend as a bedroom AC unit. Filter design, still allows for air to bypass filter anyway.

A never received air conditioner

I can't rate it since I have never received it. When i was ordering my air conditioner, i was assured by the sales person that I will receive a phone call a day prior from the delivery team to schedule a delivery, I was also assured it will be delivered by my appartment door. I asked to confirm this information and a sales representative confirmed, i also informed a representative, since it is heavy and I can't drag it to the fifth floor and that everyone have an access to the lobby and our building has a history of stolen packages it is crucial for the air conditioner to be delivered to my door and I was assured that it will be delivered to my apartment door. If I knew that it would not be the case I would not order my air conditioner from GE. In reality, i have never received a call from the delivery team and my AC was left in the lobby of the 6 floor appartment building unattended and someone took it before i was able to get to it. I was misinformed by a sales representative and paid for something I have never received.

Not Ultra Quiet. Not Even Sorta Quiet!

Box boldly proclaims Ultra Quiet. Reality is different. The fan is on the quiet side, but the compressor is just as noisy as any other compressor I've ever had. Since it's the compressor that makes most of the noise, I consider this deceptive advertising. Not going to return the unit, because of the time invested in installing it. Just not going to buy any more GE air conditioners.

this product is defective GE would not stand up behind it. Lowe's took the hit and took it back 2 wks later. They said it sounded like a helicopter? It was worse! Get really loud, all the lights would go off, then unit would shut down. Always in the middle of the night.

Easy install. Quiet. The inverter concept is brilliant. We have single wall construction in Hawaii and earlier air conditioners would start and stop abruptly causing a huge shake of the walls. This has a smooth start and stop. Great purchase.

Three days after installation the compressor started making a low, rumbling noise when coming on, which has continued intermittently over the last 7 days. I also have the 10,000 BTU version of this model, which has performed well, but frankly I've lost confidence in both units. Lowes refuses to exchange for another unit. Fun.

I'd never endorse this company. I purchased 2 of their air conditioners and I regret both. It has little to no effect on room temperature and is insanely loud. And this is in 2026. It's essentially a loud leaf blower in my wall that produces noise and hardly any effect on room temperature. There's a reason to avoid buying American products and GE just proves that. If you want to purchase a product that produces incessant noise and waste hundreds of dollars this is the product for you. They also put the wrong remote in one of the air conditioners. I hate seeing companies lose money and lay hard working people off but in all honesty this is a piece of garbage. Any GE employee who can find another worthwhile should do so because this is an embarrassment of an organization.

Helicopter noises after about two days

This window mounted inverter AC unit seemed like a good idea. Paid extra for it compared to regular models. We really thought it was great for a couple days. Loved the quiet mode, but then it started making helicopter noises even in Quiet mode. Something was happening To the motor or compressor that is not supposed to happen. It got very loud.

I ordered 2 of these and they both came with issues... the first had condenser fins pushed in so we sent it back without even using. The 2nd one we used and after an hour of use started making a loud noise...opened up the filter area and found the interior fins smushed in on that one too.

Window AC GE Profile - DO NOT BUY

This AC unit is 2 months old and does not work properly. Ge directed me to their service vendor (Bodewell). Bodewell says to schedule a visit, it will cost $129 payable up front and does not cover labor or parts!! Serioculy?!?!?! They then send me to a Bodewell webpage that says to return it to the retailer where I bought it. I bought it at Lowes and they say they can't accept a return and I should return it to GE. GE sends me to Bodewell who says to return it to the retail store!! So I ahve a broken AC Unit that cost $409 before tax that does not work properly and I can't return it!! DO NOT BUY a GE PRODUCT!!.

Works Well, But Need To Watch

Purchased two of these units. One for my kitchen, and one for my bedroom. While the kitchen unit has been working smoothly, on occasion, the one in the bedroom starts to vibrate significantly, so I shut it off, restart it and that seems to correct it, hence the four star rating. Will continue to monitor this over the cooling season and hope there is no failure, etc.

It worked great for 1 day. Now it does not shut off until the room is freezing regardless of the temperature setting on the unit. Then it does not turn back on by itself when the room warms up. Also, it started making a very load noise when something in it turns on. It sounds like something is out of balance and it vibrates the entire wall! I will be calling GE to fix or replace.

I have other GE window units that work great, but decided to try this inverter one to save on my electric bill. What a mistake! This thing sounds like a helicopter when it runs and even shakes the wall. When the compressor isn™€™t running, it™€™s quiet and smooth. But as soon as the compressor turns on, it sounds like you™€™re in war being attacked by a helicopter!! It produces super cold air, but the harmonics it produces are unacceptable! I would not buy again.

Good service when I called with shipping questions

This unit cools well. Something different is I can't hear the compressor run at all, must be the inverter technology. The fan noise, however, is my only complaint. Worse at medium speed, a medium pitched electronic hum is louder than the air rushing sound. Not what expected. (Except if using the quiet button, but then the air speed is so low I can't imagine it cools efficiently). This one is at the top of a stairway, I couldn't stand the noise if it was in the bedroom. I calculated the efficiency, my way, by dividing BTUs by watts. This GE 8000 is about 10% more efficient than an old Westinghouse we used for umpteen years.
